Summary: Missing Scene; Episode Reaction

A/N: This takes place a few days after the last scene of the Standards of Conduct--you know, the one where they talk about the baby deal.

A/N 2: Before you ask, let me just say that no, I’m not planning on going anywhere with this...yet.  It’s just a little piece of fluff I had to get out of my head so I can concentrate on another longer story I have bouncing around in my mind.

Harm nervously walked into Mac’s office, closed the door, and sat down.

Mac looked up from her casefile and chuckled.  “Go right ahead, sailor.  Make yourself at home.”

Harm simply ignored her comment and forged ahead.  “Mac, remember that conversation we had a few days ago?  The one about our deal?”

Mac smiled.  “Of course I remember it, Harm.  It isn’t every day that one talks about having sex with their best friend.”

Harm, obviously uncomfortable by the boldness of her statement, averted his eyes briefly.  “You asked if I was afraid that you wanted to up the timetable.”  He began quietly as he slowly turned to look at her again.

“Right, and you asked if I *did* want to,” Mac said slowly, not sure where he was going with this.

“Well, I do.”

“What?”  Mac’s eyes flew open wide.

“*I* want to up the timetable, Mac.”

“You do?”

“Yeah, I do.  Is that okay with you?”  Harm’s eyes begged for assurance.

“Um…I…well…I guess so.”  Mac avoided meeting his eyes.

“You *guess* so?  Mac, you make it sound like you’re deciding what to wear!”

“Well, it’s just that it seems a little sudden.”

“Out of the blue?”

“Yeah.  Like maybe we should--“

“Date first?”

“Yeah.”

“Okay, come to my place tonight after work.  I’ll cook.”

“Harm, we’ve done that plenty of times.  How is this any different?”  Mac said with a hint of frustration in her voice.

“This time I’ll kiss you goodnight.”  Harm said softly.

“Is that all?”

“It probably should be, since it will be our first date and all.”

“So I shouldn’t bring an overnight bag?”  Mac smiled suggestively.

“Not this time.  But you probably ought to keep one handy in the future.”  Harm grinned.

“Okay.  I’ll do that.”  Mac grinned back.

“See you tonight.” Harm said as he stood to leave.

“Yeah, tonight.”  Mac smiled at him as he left.

Mac tried to focus again on her case file, but one thought kept interfering.

‘Tonight, everything changes.’
