Flash-fic, pre Paraguay.
She stood there, alone in her bedroom. Clay was in the living room. They where going to have dinner just to try it out before she left tomorrow. She already felt uncomfortable, this thing seriously hampered any graceful moving about. She let her hands run over the padding. Everything had filled up or rather out nicely. As her hands rested on her belly curiosity got the better of her.
She checked to see if Webb was still on the phone or otherwise occupied and then moved to stand in front of the mirror. Surprisingly content with the image of the mom to be in the mirror she turned to see herself at all angles before stopping at her reflection sideways. She looked really pregnant. She smiled at herself as she gently ran her hands over the full mount.
Her mind drifting back to a time of promises and deals and for a moment she imagined herself really being with child, his child. Sarah’s mind filled with dreams of their baby. She could just imagine Harm as a proud father to be, a grin from ear to ear saying, ‘look, I did this! My baby’. That’s right, Harm would be possessively sweet, most likely overly protective. His voice startled her out of her reverie.
“Motherhood becomes you.”
“Harm.” She stared back at him in the reflection of the mirror. He could see she was blushing.
“How far along are you?”
“Six months.” She tried to stay in reality, but playing along like this almost made it impossible, her mind making up all kinds of situations, like seeing her first ultra sound picture. As soon as she realized she was drifting she focused her attention on the man standing in her bedroom. Then again….that didn’t really help any.
Harm had this far away look on his face as he stared at her new form. God she looked beautiful, he thought as he pictured her carrying his baby. O wait she’s talking to me.
“I will be so uncomfortable.” She tried to focus on the reality of the suit.
“That comes with being pregnant.”
“Yeah, just like looking like a beached whale.”
“You look perfect.” He said dreamily and she could only stare back at him.” It’s just…”
“What?” she asked while checking her pregnant belly to find a flaw. Finding none she looked back at his face surprised by the loving expression the held it. “Harm? Why are you looking at me that way?”
“Something’s missing.” He said softly as he moved towards her.
“What?” she whispered his intense stare and his impeding closeness making her nervous.
Harm moved behind her, their eyes still locked in the reflection of the mirror. He wrapped his hands around her, his hands slowly moving over her belly. His cheek rested against her hair as his hands rested on ‘their baby’.
“There. That’s much better.” He whispered, a satisfied smile on his lips as he looked at the joined reflection.
And she agreed.
